Ambula — ABHA, Health Locker & Doctors
A patient-facing health record platform built to India’s ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) spec, shipped to both stores and now past 1 lakh downloads.
The challenge
ABDM integration is unforgiving: ABHA creation, consent flows and health-record linking each have strict government-defined contracts, and every screen handles sensitive medical data that has to stay encrypted on device and in transit.
How I approached it
- Implemented the full ABHA creation and verification flow against the ABDM gateway, including OTP-based Aadhaar and mobile verification.
- Built the Health Locker so records fetched from linked facilities are stored encrypted, with consent artefacts the user can review and revoke.
- Designed appointment booking, medicine ordering and doctor consultation as separate modules behind one navigation shell, so each could ship independently.
- Tuned list rendering and image caching to keep record-heavy screens smooth on low-end Android devices, which dominate the user base.
